Meet Our Staff

Fr. Kreidler

Monsignor William Blacet

Monsignor Blacet has been the pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel since 1992. He has played a pivotal role in establishing the church as a Shrine dedicated to St. Faustina and Divine Mercy. His 73 years and counting of priesthood began when he graduated from Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis on Dec. 21, 1946. His first assignment was assisting at Holy Rosary parish in St. Joseph. He was reassigned to Cathedral Parish in 1950, where he served for almost a decade before going as pastor to St. James Parish in Liberty in the still new Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. Msgr. Blacet was elevated to Papal Chamberlain in 1957 and Domestic Prelate in 1968. He served as pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes-KC, St. Thomas More and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception before being assigned to Our Lady of Good Counsel in 1992. He received a licentiate in Canon Law in 1950, from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. In addition to his parish work, Msgr. Blacet served as Vice-Chancellor; Secretary of the Matrimonial Curia; Defensor Vinculi; Assistant Chancellor; Vice-Officialis and Censor Liborum for the St. Joseph Diocese; Censor Liborum and Diocesan Consultor for the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.

(We are grateful to the Catholic Key for their publication in honor of Msgr.'s 70th anniversary to the priesthood! Give it a read here.)

Kathy Stockard

For Kathy, our Office Manager, working at Our Lady of Good Counsel is an honor. The day Monsignor Blacet walked in the door is when her father started attending Mass here. She was here for the first Divine Mercy Mass and when Good Counsel was declared a shrine.  "Every day is a pleasure being here with our Holy Priests", she says.  Kathy and her husband have five grown children and five grandchildren.  She enjoys spending time with family and working in the yard.

Brian Dykstra

Brian has been Director of Music and Choirmaster at OLGC since August of 2016. He has been involved in church music in various capacities for nearly 20 years. His musical training culminated in a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he also spent several semesters in private studies in choral conducting under Dr. Todd Guy. Holding an MA in fundraising management, Brian's "day job" is as a fundraiser for United Way of Greater Kansas City.

Brian is passionate about traditional sacred music, including Gregorian chant, polyphony, and has a special affection for the musical tradition of the English Church--both Catholic and Anglican. In his spare time, Brian loves to read, attend the opera, enjoy a good bourbon, and has recently taken up English riding and traditional foxhunting. He and his wife, Samantha, are not Missouri natives, but are proud to now call KC home and are thankful to God for a home at OLGC.
